We Have a Theme for Corn Day 2024

We have a theme.  This year’s Corn Day celebration now in it’s 96th year will take place October 11th and 12th and this year’s parade theme has been announced as “Corn to be Wild”.  Cassie Pigg and Nicki Rahmoeller submitted the theme idea on WROY/WRUL’s social media call for suggestions.  They don’t win anything, but bragging rights for naming the Carmi’s most important event theme isn’t “nothing” either.

Kiwanis President Kelly Northcott says the entertainment will also be moving to an earlier time on the schedule, right after the parade specifically, to help keep the festival cohesive and encourage parade onlookers to stick around for the music.  There’s been no word yet on just who that headline entertainment will be.  Northcott says she’s also working to hopefully make carnival rides available on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this year, but hasn’t gotten clearance yet.

The guest speaker at Thursday’s meeting was Patty Hodgson, filling in for practice manager Janelle Waters and representing Aegis Therapies.  Hodgson discussed the history of the company, how they came to operate the Oak Street practice, the staff, and several of the therapies they provide.  You can learn more at http://www.aegisoutpatient.com, stop by the 1112 Oak Street business, or call 618-382-2927.
