Crews descended on the apartment complex southwest of Carmi Thursday afternoon in response to a fire. Carmi Fire Chief Daniel Ballard says no one was injured in the blaze. Firefighters from Norris City and Enfield also responded with mutual aid. Personnel began their battle with the flames at about 12:50 and remained on scene until about 3:30pm. Jonathan Turpin, the owner of the building, told Ballard the fire sparked in an area that was an office years ago and had been turned in to two apartments. One was occupied while the other wasn’t yet finished.
