A Carmi man driving on a suspended license was arrested after he was clocked going 73 in a 55 mph zone. On March 14th Deputy Simmons with the White County Sheriff’s Department was on routine patrol on Epworth running radar when he observed a red GMC pickup traveling over the speed limit. Simmons initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver who identified himself as 29 year old Michael Wyant. Simmons requested license and proof of insurance from Wyant as well of a driver’s license from the passenger Jason Sigmund. Neither Wyant nor Sigmund were able to provide a valid driver’s license. Both of the men’s information was run through dispatch who confirmed that license had been revoked on both individuals. At this time Illinois State Trooper Miller arrived on scene to assist with the traffic stop.
Trooper Miller instructed Wyant to step out of the vehicle then placed him under arrest. The trooper informed Wyant that his bond would be set at $250. He was transported to the White County Jail where bond was set at $250. Following a search of the vehicle it was towed from the scene by S&E.
Wyant was cited for Driving While License Revoked and Speeding. He paid $250 bond and was released.
He is scheduled to appear in White County Court on April 25th at 9:00 AM.
