The White County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a field fire recently. Roger Mobley of Ridgway filed the report out of caution in case more fires happened in the area. The field, in the Herald area, was found ablaze Thursday and Mobley says he couldn’t find a source or reason. Tyler Wooten noticed it, Mobley says, and the two men along with assistance from friends and family used water hoses heavy equipment to douse the flames. Logs, tires and a planted field were destroyed.
Saturday morning, authorities were called to a rural part of the county in reference to a burned lawnmower left on a county road. The deputy’s report indicates he arrived on scene to County Road 1050 North to find the burnt out Craftsman facing south. Township Road Commissioner Jimmy Hoskins was contacted. Hoskins reported the roadway is rarely used and he would remove the mower. Found near the mower were several beer cans and a vape pen.
