On Saturday at approximately 10:53 AM, 81 year old Carl D. Hughes spoke via telephone to report a vehicle was stolen from his property at 423 County Road 700 North in Norris City.
Hughes said at about 10:30 PM on December 10th and 6:38 PM on December 11th, a cream-colored 2006 Chrysler 300C was removed from his garage without his permission. Hughes believed that a person staying with him since about October 26th, 28 year old Dylan T. Sutton of Norris City had taken the vehicle. Sutton was supposed to leave by Christmas, but Hughes went to bed on December 10th he noticed that Sutton and the vehicle were missing. He said Sutton was never given permission to use the vehicle and should not have had access to the keys to the car. Hughes said he tried to contact Sutton, but has been unsuccessful.
Hughes told the officer arriving at the scene he would like to file charges against Sutton and have it listed as a stolen vehicle. He then filed a probable cause complaint for theft of over $500. The report will be forwarded to the White County State’s Attorney’s Office for his consideration of charges. The vehicle will be entered into the LEADS/NCIC database as a stolen vehicle. Hughes will be contacted if any further information became available and Hughes said he would also contact the Sheriff’s Department if he obtained any further information as to the vehicle’s whereabouts.
At about 6:54 AM Saturday, officers responded to 919 Third Street in Carmi in reference to a report of a burglary from a motor vehicle owned by Daniel F. Martin, 57, the owner of the residence.
Martin said before calling the Sheriff’s Department, he and his wife observed a new model dark grey Mustang pull next to their rear driveway and saw a tall thin male wearing an orange shirt exiting the vehicle. He then entered Martin’s vehicle, a blue 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, that was parked in his driveway and not locked. Martin said his wife yelled at the subjects and they left the area travelling south on Third Street. Martin looked in his vehicle and noticed a number of miscellaneous keys, a flashlight, a small digital camera, and a notebook were all taken. He said he was unable to make out the Mustang’s license plates and did not know who the subjects were.
A report was filed about the incident and placed on file at the White County Sheriff’s Department. Martin said he would contact them if any further information becomes available.
And on Friday, December 11th, 56 year old Rachel Anderson of 727 County Road 1420 North in Carmi reported an IRobot electronic vacuum was taken from her residence.
Anderson said she left the vacuum on a table after last using it last November 17th and that was the last place it was seen. She said she and her husband searched the residence to no avail. Anderson said she received a customer service email from IRobot sometime after and called to inquire why they sent the email. She said the base was not taken with it and still was at her residence. Anderson said that she contacted IRobot and their customer service stated that she needed to go through law enforcement.
