With 11 of 18 precincts reporting in White County, it’s clear some things haven’t changed from 4 years ago. White County overwhelmingly has cast votes for Republicans. Of the 1,874 ballots cast so far, 1,515 have said no to the “fair tax” while 256 voted in favor. President Trump is winning White County even though Illinois has most certainly gone blue. 1,576 votes have been cast for Trump while only 262 votes were cast for Biden. Darren Bailey has garnered 1,551 votes to Cynthia Given’s 264 in White County for 55th Legislative District State Senate race. Locally, in district 3, voters are choosing to keep Republican Ken Usery on the county board so far with 402 votes to challenger Ray Mitchell’s 145. The Public Safety Tax ballot measure is also going down in flames for the second effort in a row in White County. The vote was close in 2018, but with 11 of 18 precincts reporting so far, the no votes are more than double with 1,296 voters saying no to a 1% sales tax increase to benefit public safety agencies. Yes votes tally just 516 at this point.
