Covid 19 forced the cancellation of the White County Fair last year, but this year,

plans are in place for a full week of activities at the fairgrounds, here in Carmi.

The 143rd annual fair will open Monday evening with the White County Fair Queen contest.

Reigning queen, Kelsi Kessler will crown the new queen. Kessler not only was the 2019 White County Fair Queen, she went on to be named Miss Illinois Fair Queen.

A Junior Miss and Little Miss will also be crowned Monday night. The retiring queens are Little Miss Kaylyn Turner and Junior Miss Rhaney Jack.

The crowned queens will represent at the fair the rest of the week.

There will be a grandstand admission of $10 for the queen pageant.

Tuesday evening’s action is free as there will be harness racing on the track. The first card is expected to be called around 6 p.m.

Wednesday night will be “dark”, meaning there is no grandstand event planned for that evening.

Dirt track go-cart racing is back Thursday night. There are rookie, junior and adult classes that will be racing open wheel style on the fairground’s dirt track. There will be pay outs and trophies for the winners of the night’s action.

There will be a $5 grandstand admission for the go-cart action.

Professional truck and tractor pulls are on tap for Friday night. The pulls will begin at 7. There is a $10 grandstand admission and pit passes are available for $10.

And like most area county fairs, a demolition derby will close out the fair Saturday night. The derby will cost $15 for a grandstand seat and pit passes are available for $20.
