The White County 4-H Livestock Show was held Wednesday, July 10 at the White County Fairgrounds in Carmi. 4-H members exhibited their animals in classes for Beef Cattle, Goats, Sheep, and Swine. In the Goat Show, Promiss Roser showed the Grand Champion Dairy Doe with Naomi Roser showing the Reserve Champion Dairy Doe. Johanna Zieren showed the Grand Champion Meat Doe with Mossyn Blazier showed the Reserve Champion Meat Doe. Johanna Zieren presented the Grand Champion Wether and Grace McCarty had the Reserve Champion Wether. Johanna Zieren presented the Grand Champion Kid Buck and Aysa Weber had the Reserve Champion Kid.
In the Sheep Show, Annsley Healy had the Grand Champion Ewe and Emmaline Draper had the Reserve Champion Ewe. The Sheep Wether Show was Annsley Healy showing the Grand Champion Wether and Reece Gholson took the Reserve Grand Champion. Emmaline Draper showed a Grand Champion Ram with Lincoln Draper showing the Reserve Champion. Carolyn Seitz and Janice Gates donated cash prizes for the sheep exhibitors, along with John Williams Insurance providing cash prizes for all wether exhibitors.
The Swine Show was highly contested as well. Annsley Healy took the Grand Champion Barrow with Sydney Stallings receiving Reserve Grand Champion. The gilt class was full too with Addy Sutton receiving Grand Champion and Annsley Healy also taking home Reserve. We added a litter class again this year. The Stallings family took home first place.
The Beef Show had seven entries this year. Annsley Healy won Grand Champion Female with her heifer and Katelyn Garner receiving Reserve Grand Champion Female. Annsley Healy won Grand Champion bucket calf. Sydney Stallings had the Reserve Champion bucket calf. Lincoln Draper took Grand Champion with his steer.
The traveling livestock trophies were awarded to Johanna Zieren (Goats), Remmington Naas (Swine), Reece Gholson (Sheep), and Lincoln Draper (Cattle). The clean pen awards this year were again sponsored by Farm Credit Services. The winners of those awards were Beef-Katelyn Garner, Sheep-Lincoln Draper, Swine-Remmington Naas, and Goats-Jordan Stallings. The winners received a Visa gift card from Farm Credit Services. All the trophies of the livestock class winners were sponsored by First Mid-Illinois Bank and Trust here in Carmi. The belt buckles given to the grand champions in several categories were also sponsored by First Mid-Illinois Bank and Trust. New this year Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion banners were sponsored by White County Farm Bureau. Tractor Supply Company also donated 25.00 gift cards to be given to a 4-Her in each species. A huge thank you goes out to all the sponsors and donors for the livestock show. Congratulations to all the winners!
The Tractor Driving Contest took place at the Fairgrounds on Tuesday, July 9. Junior and Senior divisions were divided up this year. Junior division winner was Boone York and Lincoln Draper was the senior division winner.
White County Shooting Stars SPIN Club had archery, air rifle, air pistol, and a shotgun shoot on Sunday, July 7 at the Carmi Rifle Club, during the White County 4-H Show.
Starting with 8- & 9-year-olds. They participated in 2 disciplines.
