With COVID-19 impacting schools around the area, Wabash Community School District Number 348 in Mt. Carmel is reporting higher than normal fail rates. The districts says they have tried a number of different plans including going fully remote, an A/B schedule, and a full return to classroom learning and still about 50 percent of the student body received at least one “F” during the past semester.
Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer said, “It’s something that concerns the school, students are having issues with detaching.”
According to Dr. Bleyer all of the school’s guidance counselors are reaching out constantly to every student and working hard to get the resolve the problem.
As of Tuesday, there have been a total of 1,067 cases of the virus confirmed in Wabash County.
