Uber is coming to a neighborhood near you in Southeastern Illinois. A press release from the ride service says it will expand operations to 39 counties throughout Illinois including 25 southern Illinois counties. White, Wayne, Gallatin, Hardin, Edwards, Pope, and Wabash Counties are all included in the expansion which Uber says now makes their service available throughout the entire state. David Shapir, Uber’s General Manger for Illinois added,
“We’re thrilled to make Uber available throughout the state. Whether you need an affordable ride to the grocery store or are looking to ear extra money on your own schedule, all Illinoisans will now have access to the Uber platform.”
Residents interested in signing up to drive can sign up at uber.com/drive. Before anyone can drive for the company, they must undergo what Uber calls a multi-step safety screen. Riders can learn more by downloading the app and setting up an account.
