White County States Attorney Denton Aud announced that two convictions were handed down in White County Court on Monday.
22 year old Jacklyn S Steed of West Frankfort was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of one count of possession of methamphetamine and one count of possession of a weapon by a felon. For each charge, Steed was sentenced to five years and the terms will run concurrently. In addition Steed will be under mandatory court supervision for two years following incarceration. The charges stem from Steed’s arrest on November 8th by Carmi Police after a traffic stop on 5th Street.
41 year old David P. Brockett of Carmi was sentenced to 18 months in Department of Corrections custody following his Thanksgiving arrest for criminal trespass. Brockett was earlier given a sentence of conditional discharge on one count of driving while license revoked and one count of deceptive practice, which was revoked with his arrest last week. Brockett also will be under court supervision for one year following incarceration.
