Two Hamilton County Teens Injured in Monday Afternoon Accident on Dale Blacktop

Two 15 year old McLeansboro girls are being treated for injuries sustained in a rollover crash late Monday afternoon on the Dale Blacktop.  A release from ISP says one of the girls lost control of the 2005 red Ford truck she was driving, ran off the roadway to the left and then overcorrected to the opposite side going off the roadway and overturning.  The accident happened about a quarter till 5pm.  Both were taken to a local hospital and then later transferred to a St. Louis medical facility for treatment of what authorities are calling non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was ticketed for not having a valid driver’s license and driving too fast for conditions/failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.  Illinois law says teenagers who are 15 can get a learner’s permit and begin taking driver’s education courses.  They’re subject to night time driving curfews and may only drive with a parent, legal guardian, or a licensed driver 21 years or older.
