Two Busted for Marijuana in Vehicles

While marijuana is legal in the state of Illinois, there are certain rules that apply to legalization and that includes possession of pot in a vehicle.

A rule, that two Carmi women were reminded of over the weekend, with one woman still in jail Monday morning.

Friday night, just before 11 p.m. Samantha L. Scheer, 54, of 250 Fairview Drive was arrested for possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle.
Scheer was transported to the White County Jail where she was issued a notice to appear citation and released due to the Safe-T-Act.

Sunday night, just after 9, Angela N. Bartley, 43, 1306 Highway One, Carmi was arrested following a traffic stop for an outstanding White County warrant for failure to appear on a possession of methamphetamine. Bartley was also charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle by driver.

Bartley remained in custody at the White County Jail early Monday morning.

If it was an open container then the law was broken.

Has to be in a sealed, childproof, odor proof container. One seal is broken you get a charge similar to an open container for alcohol.

When i go to the dispensary their isnt a seal on the bottle of flower so according to this if i am in a vehicle omw home get pulled over and i havent smoked anything yet they search my car find an eigth of flower in a bottle from the dispensary that has never had a seal on it I can be arrested and charges with an open container as if I had an open beer in the car….Thats crazy how do u get home after a purchase at a dispensary then??? This regulation needs to be revisited and corrected its entrapment.

what dispensary are you buying from because they have to come with a seal. that’s how you know its not been tampered with or compromised. Crazy you would willing walk away with unsealed containers
