We’ve got our first heat advisory of the year and it comes just days before Summer officially begins. The National Weather Service says we could experience heat index values up to 107 today between 1pm and 7pm. The hot temperatures will combine with high humidity to cause potentially dangerous conditions throughout the tri state, especially for those working outside. Young children and pets should not be left under any circumstances outside or in unattended vehicles. Those who are working outside should take extra precautions in the form of drinking extra fluids, taking frequent breaks, and authorities suggest considering rescheduling of any strenuous activities to early morning or evening. You might also take a moment or two to check on any neighbors and friends.
