A Carmi man is behind bars after Sheriff’s authorities were called to a domestic dispute Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Officers were dispatched around midnight to 701 Summit Street involving a suspected altercation between 49 year old Jason Townsend and 41 year old Crystal Boaz. On scene, officers note in the report they made contact with both parties who said they’d been arguing, but that nothing physical occurred. Officers then spoke with 20 year old James Trahan who reported the fight, who reported the two were screaming at each other and Townsend was throwing things at Boaz. According to the report, Townsend also made a life threatening statement. He says at that point, he walked over to intervene. Townsend then reportedly told Trahan, “Come on this street so help me God I’ll kill you where you stand”. It was at that point, Trahan says he called officers and when asked agreed to sign a complaint for assault. In addition to misdemeanor Assault, Townsend is also being charged with Disorderly Conduct. Bail was set at $100. Online court records don’t yet indicate his upcoming day in court.
