According to White County Sheriff Jordan Weiss, the department recovered some stolen oilfield property.
On Monday, Sgt. Craig Poole took a theft report from George Mitchell Drilling. A spokesperson from the company reported a drill bit stolen from a location in the Calvin bottoms on County Road 2200 North. It was a Smith brand drilling bit and had a replacement value of $20,000. Sheriff Weiss said that a subsequent investigation was conducted into the incident in conjunction with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. The drill bit was recovered in Franklin County, and on Thursday Sgt. Poole met with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department at a location in West Frankfort and took possession of the stolen drill bit. The bit was then released to George Mitchell Drilling,
Sheriff’s Weiss says the incident is still under investigation by the White County Sheriff’s Department.
