States Attorney/Sheriff Address Alleged Incident at Jail

On November 11, 2023, Sheriff Jordan Weiss was notified of an inappropriate incident that allegedly occurred in the White County Jail between a Corrections Officer and an inmate after an inmate became agitated in the Jail and was placed in an isolation cell. After gathering all information, it was determined by Sheriff Weiss to contact the Illinois State Police to investigate the incident.

On November 13, 2023, ISP investigators arrived at the White County Sheriff’s Department to conduct the interview of the inmate. After the interview was conducted, ISP Investigations took possession of the audio/video from the White County Jail to review. ISP Investigations reviewed all video footage and incident reports from all Corrections Officers that were on duty at the time of the alleged incident.

All audio/video footage, interview reports and incident reports were turned over to the White County State’s Attorney for review. After reviewing all reports and audio/video footage of the incident the White County State’s Attorney denied to prosecute the case for lack of evidence.

We should have a right to see the footages of the alleged incident. This has been made public, we the public should have been able to view the video and or audio in a follow up statement (at best). If it was a big enough deal to be investigated and write an article why not FOOTAGE?
