Collinsville, Illinois – Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois-15) released the following statement today regarding the House vote on the Paycheck Protection and Health Care Enhancement Act:
“The needs of my constituents are still great. This bill addresses some of the major concerns that I have heard throughout my district. The Paycheck Protection Program gets a much needed infusion of money. And the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program gets more money and the flexibility to offer small businesses larger amounts for longer terms with rates at or below 4 percent. Hospitals that have lost revenue will be also be helped, and there is additional money to expand testing. I would vote yes if I were in DC.
“As many locals know, however, my 91 year old father moved in with us before all this began because of the failing health of my mom. Since then my mother has passed and we continue to assist dad through this transition. Today I had to take my dad to see his heart doctor and therefore could not be present to vote on the bill.”
