Six Sentenced in White County Court

38-year-old Jason Easter has been sentenced to 2 years behind bars.  His sentence was handed down Wednesday.  Easter was arrested April 25th and charged with felony Domestic Battery with a prior.  In addition to the up to 2 years behind bars, Easter will be serving an additional 4 years of supervised release.

Jerry Lamont of Carmi learned his sentence earlier this month.  The 52-year-old was sentenced to 20 years worth of time on 3 charges though he’s only expected to serve about 8 years as the two other 6 year sentences are to run concurrent.  Lamont was arrested back in December of 2023 on several drug charges.  He pled guilty to charges of Illegal Use of Property in the Manufacture/Distribution of Meth, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Obstruction of Justice.  In return, charges of Meth Delivery, Possession of the drug, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting a Peace Officer were dismissed as per the plea deal.

64-year-old Eric Williams of Carmi has been sentenced to 6 years in prison.  He was arrested back in November of 2020 and faced 6 counts.  He finally got a sentence at the end of July after agreeing to a plea deal in which he was found guilty of Possession of Meth.  The remaining 5 charges including a Class X Felony of Meth Delivery were dismissed.  He was also given credit for 10 days of time served and will have a year of supervised release following his incarceration.

45-year-old Timothy Hill of Sheridan, IL will spend up to 3 years in jail following his sentencing late last month.  Hill was arrested in May of 2022 and was facing 4 charges.  He would agree to a plea deal in which he’d face the music on Receiving/Possession/Selling a Stolen Vehicle and Possession of Meth charges in return for charges of Possession of a Firearm with a Revoked FOID card and Illegal Use of Property charges dismissed.  Hill has been credited with 38 days of time served.

A Posey County man was also sentenced to a decade behind bars recently in White County court to run concurrent with sentences imposed out of his home county and federal cases.  46-year-old Matthew Curtis was arrested in Crossville back in June of 2022 on an arrest warrant out of Posey County.  The arrest warrant was for Felony Burglary with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a serious violent Felon, Burglary, Resisting Law Enforcement, Theft and Unlawful Possession of Syringes.  Read more about Curtis’ arrest at https://www.wrul.com/local-news/curtis-arrested-on-posey-county-warrant

35-year-old David Iverson of Albion learned his fate earlier this month.  Iverson will serve 2 years behind bars concurrent with an Edwards County conviction.  He was arrested in October of 2022 on Possession of Meth charges.  He pled guilty and the court withheld judgment at the time.  Probation was revoked and he was given 2 years in late July.  In addition, he’ll serve 6 months of supervised release.

Lock them up!! Lock their b***s up!! All this junk about probation, suspended sentence, giving another chance, your religious beliefs, “but I knew her in High School”, etc, etc. Lock their b***s up in the joint and let them get some of that loving for a while and maybe they will think twice next time before they steal their hard working neighbors things or sell drugs to kids. On any given night between the hours of 1:00 am and 4:00 am, you will see groups of scumbags walking or peddling around the streets looking at peoples houses and yards- what do you think they are doing? Police get proactive in community policing, County States Attorney throw the book at them, County Judge impose max punishment and lets get these scumbags off our streets. Those of us in the majority who live here and would just like to be allowed to go about our lives in peace would appreciate it.
