HARRISBURG, IL November 9, 2020 –The Shawnee National Forest is providing contact-free customer services at their offices located in Harrisburg, Jonesboro and Vienna Illinois.
Although brochures and recreation information are available on the Forest’s website, visitors can now stop by the offices on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for contact-free services to obtain maps, America the Beautiful Federal Passes, firewood permits and burn permits.
Customers are encouraged to call the nearest Forest Service office prior to coming by to ensure they bring the proper ID or form of payment necessary for a pass or permit. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and closed on federal holidays. Customers may experience short wait-times outside as visitors are not allowed entry into the offices. These actions have been taken based on the best available medical advice to promote social distancing.
