The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that a project to replace the structure carrying Illinois 14 over Bear Creek in Hamilton County will begin, weather permitting, Monday Dec. 2.
The project involves replacing the structure with a cast-in-place triple barrel box culvert.
To complete the work, Fairground Road will close at the intersection of Illinois 14 for the duration of the project, which is anticipated to be completed by September 2025. Traffic will be maintained using staged construction and temporary traffic signals.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and all detour signs prior to the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
