There are plenty of jobs available in Indiana, but there are also a lot of people still collecting unemployment checks. The state’s Department of Workforce Development says the latest numbers show that as of May 1st, just under 200-thousand people were collecting benefits. Indiana’s jobless rate is three-point-nine- percent. The numbers come as the National Federation of Independent Business says 48-percent of companies in Indiana say they need workers. The NFIB’s Barbara Quandt says the enhanced unemployment benefits that have some people making more money by staying at home are to blame. Indiana will drop-out of that enhanced federal program at the end of next week.
