The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake is announcing the opportunity for persons to bid on the contract to perform gate attendant services, in the Rend Lake campgrounds, during the 2020 recreation season.
Rend Lake will be awarding contracts for two positions. Both positions are for gate attendants which will serve as the alternate attendant. One contract will be for an alternate to work in the Gun Creek and South Marcum campgrounds and one alternate position will be for an attendant that will work in the North and South Sandusky campgrounds. Both of these positions involve working a total of four days/week. Two days (Mondays and Tuesdays) work will be performed at the first campground and two days (Wednesday and Thursdays) work will be performed at the second campground. Gate Attendants shall be required to work all federal holidays that fall on their scheduled work days. These contracts are for 1 year and have an option to be extended for an additional two years.
Successful bidders must possess the following skills to adequately perform the work required: exhibit the ability to work with the public; strong verbal communication skills; excellent problem solving skills; and have the ability to make decisions and resolve conflicts, following guidelines, rules, and regulations which have been provided during training. Bidders shall also have a basic knowledge of computer operation and the ability to work with computers on a daily basis. Basic office skills, such as filing, record keeping, and handling of money are also necessary. Bidders must possess good phone skills.
Gate Attendants are responsible for performing a number of tasks associated with the collection of user fees, registration of campers, management of the campsite reservation system, dissemination of information, and controlling access to the campground during the recreation season. Bidders must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM – https://www.sam.gov/SAM/) and must obtain a fidelity bond upon contract award.
