The Hamilton County Board met on Tuesday with a long list of items to approve.
A refund was granted to Patricia Irvin with Patti’s Place for $1,750 for the Class A Liquor License. Board Chairman Kelly Woodrow explained why the board felt the need to pay her back,
“She applied for this license and the state, the way I got it, had given her the okay for the record and then they come in and inspected it and she found out that it was going to take like 50 or $60 ,000 to update it. So she’s, it really wasn’t her, what she did I think was right, she was trying to go through the procedures of it. I think it would only be fair if we gave her money back.”
Along with that approval, the board approved the remaining items in new business: a donation of $5,300 for the 2024 Kiwanis Fall Festival, $225 for a letter of commitment for Discover Downstate Illinois Tourism, and two ordinances, one about unauthorized camping and the other amending the Hamilton County budget for Fiscal Year 2024.
Re-appointments were accepted for Dr. Brian Haeuber for a three-year term and John Carrell for a one-year term, both the Hamilton County Board of Health. Robert Drake for a five-year term in the Hamilton County Water District.
Board members approved the payment of $10,965 to Gibbs Construction for the interior demolition of the Webb Oil office building.
Adam Little was the only board member to abstain from approving Teddy Little’s payment of $27,500 for the removal and replacement of the Webb Oil office building’s metal exterior sides and roof.
Two vehicles were confirmed to be put up for sale for the County—a 2004 F-350 with 270,142 miles and a 2005 F-150 Extended Cab with 166,920 miles.
The next Hamilton County Board meeting will be held on May 21st.
