White County Government has been selected to receive an Energy Transition Community Grant Program from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The program is funded by the Energy Transition fund, created by the 2021 Climate Equitable Jobs Act.
Through a Phase I application process, White County Government has been awarded $1,207,426. Energy Transition Community Grants must be used to plan for or address the economic and social impact on the community or region of plant or mine retirement or transition.
Phase II process of the grant requires a stakeholders engagement process. A public meeting will be held tonight at 6 Pm at the White County Courthouse in Courtroom A to provide interested parties an opportunity to give input and feedback on use of the grant.
