Press Release for Recovery Resource Center Arts and Crafts program November 21

The Southeastern Illinois Substance Use Prevention, Recovery and Treatment (SI SUPRT) Council will host a thanks-themed arts and crafts stress reduction program Saturday, November 21 from 2- 4 p.m. via Zoom. The workshop will help people look at holiday stresses and provide suggestions on how to cope with them, especially in relation to gratitude in the on-going recovery process. Participants will get to share in gratitude activities and will be given links to positive arts and craft related activities. The event will be led by recovery support specialists and staff of the Recovery Resource Center in Harrisburg. At the end of this program, the winners of SI SUPRT’s Recovery Awareness Art Contest will be announced. Members of the public are invited to submit their own artistic expression of recovery from illness in the form of a face covering, a poster, painting, or ribbon. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. Art must be submitted to the Recovery Resource Center by noon on November 13.

The Recovery Resource Center is located at 715 E. Church St. in Harrisburg, behind LEO’s Pizza. SI SUPRT Council is working to build supports for recovery in Hamilton, Gallatin, Saline and White counties.
