It’s six months before the Illinois primary but interest in the local elections continues as a Burnt Prairie Township resident picked up a petition to represent County Board District Three, which covers all of Burnt Prairie Township and a portion of Carmi Township.
John Stockton, picked up a petition declaring his intention to run for the seat currently being held by Kenny Usery. White County Clerk Kayci Heil says Usery has also picked up a petition.
White County registered voters will be asked to choose a state’s attorney circuit clerk, coroner and county board representatives for District Three and Four. Board chairperson Cassie Pigg currently holds the District Four seat on the county board.
Filing began on September 5th and will continue through November 27th, the last day to file a petition for office is December 4th.
The Illinois Primary will be held on March 19th.
