Pay Request For Water Project Approved At Enfield Board Meeting Tuesday Evening

The Village of Enfield met for a couple of hours Tuesday night for its monthly board meeting.  Scott Mareing was there and has this report…

The board approved two pay estimates on the Water Project.  One for $50,853 to Wiggs Excavating and the other for $46,347 to Brown and Roberts Engineering, Inc.

The board accepted the bid from Republic Services for a five year contract for village waste collection.  The cost will be $14.98 a month per household, increasing to $17.52 by 2028.  A 95 gallon container will be $6 per month with a limit of two containers and pick-up will be once a week.  The other bid was from Bulldog Services.

White County will pay for half of the culvert for the Hickory Street Bridge, with other half paid by MFT funds.  Work should begin after the Water Project is completed.

Concerning street lights, there will be sixteen 61-watt LED lights installed with receptacles for Christmas lights.  Included in the cost are sidewalk repairs.

State Representative David Severin recently signed the agreement with the village to have a satellite office to help constituents, in the village hall at 105 East Main Street, which the board agreed to last year.  Hours are the first Tuesday of each month from 9 AM to 3 PM.  His rent will be $250 a month.

The board members reviewed the Water Tower Inspection Report from OSHA and decided to look into making changes from their recommendations.

The water lines should be done in about three days.

Work on the park is taking place for it to be ready for spring.

According to Animal Control officer Beverly Thompson, the license for the dog pound costs $350 for the first year, and then $100 each year after that.  The board agreed to get the license in June, when the billing period begins.  They’re not allowed to house dogs until they get the license.  Also, new fencing will be put in at the pound.

The board also agreed to pay to modify the salt spreader, which will be put on a trailer of the dump truck.

Town-wide Cleanup Day is April 15th.

The board approved a $150 donation for the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 8th at 1 PM at the village park.

The board then met in Executive Session for 13 minutes and agreed to compensate Village Secretary Tammy Jones and Utilities Superintendent Steve Bishop for two hours for every Village Board Meeting.

The board adjourned at 8:50 PM.
