On Thursday February 16th at around 6:30 PM, 25 year old Shelby Orebaugh of Harrisburg was arrested in the Carmi Wal-Mart parking lot on a Vanderburgh County, Indiana warrant. It was a felony no bond warrant for interference with custody. After being taken to the White County Jail, at around 6 AM the next morning, Orebaugh became combative with officers and began banging her head against the walls and doors. White County Sheriff’s officers requested assistance from Carmi Police due to fighting the corrections officers while trying to keep Orebaugh from hurting herself. A Carmi police officer and Deputy assisted and were kicked and struck multiple times, along with a corrections officer, before Orebaugh was able to be restrained in the restraint chair. As a result, she was charged with four felony counts of Aggravated Battery of a Police Officer and a misdemeanor count of Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer. Orebaugh is being held without bond.
