A South Houston, Texas man is recovering in an Evansville hospital after a serious accident in outside Mt. Carmel Saturday night. It was just before 7pm when a Wabash County Sheriff’s Deputy says he came upon the crash in the 5000 block of Wabash 17 Avenue. According to the report, 59-year-old Raymond E. Lawson was westbound on 17 Avenue when the vehicle left the roadway on the passenger side and then overcorrected to the left. The deputy estimates the vehicle left the roadway, crossed the ditch and spun 3 times ending up more than 300 feet from the road. Lawson was flown from the scene to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville for treatment of what have been called serious injuries. Lawson’s Toyota Yaris sustained excessive damage and was towed from the scene.
