One Dead Following Monday Night Crash; Crossville Teen Facing DUI after Saturday Night Accident

A Herald man is dead following a single vehicle accident late Monday night.  It’s the third accident in just over 4 months in that area.  The White County Sheriff’s Department says they responded and observed a Ford truck that had struck a tree.  White County Coroner Chris Marsh identified the driver as 42-year-old Steven Martin and determined he died on impact.  An autopsy is scheduled.  Law enforcement say it’s unknown at this time what the cause of the crash was.

A Crossville teen is lucky to be unharmed, though he now faces a charge of Driving under the Influence following a crash Saturday night.  White County Sheriff’s authorities responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on County Road 1100 East near 1600 North.  Upon arrival, a sergeant says he observed a red Jeep Cherokee resting on the passenger side.  The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Ian Mosier was standing beside it and the report indicates law enforcement detected alcohol on his breath.  A field sobriety test was performed which the sergeant says Mosier failed and a preliminary breath sample revealed him to be above the legal limit for someone 21 years of age.  Mosier was subsequently taken to the White County Jail for booking where he was cited for DUI, Improper Lane Usage, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident before being released to a guardian.  He’s due in court for a first appearance on December 10th.
