Officials Say More than 166,000 Attend 2023 DuQuoin State Fair

Officials say the numbers back up the claim that the DuQuoin State Fair continues to be a strong economic engine for the local economy.  According to the Illinois Department of Agriculture, more than 166,000 people attended this year’s event despite excessive heat warnings and an extended duration of high humidity which led to the cancelation of the annual Twilight Parade.  Despite the weather, the DuQuoin State Fair brought in more than $417,000 in revenue on ticketed events.  Published reports indicate the DuQuoin State Fair has an economic impact of $6 million, including $2 million for wages and salaries, and generates more than half a million dollars in sales tax revenue.  The 2024 Fair is slated to run August 23rd – September 2nd.
