
The Norris City Village Board held its regular monthly meeting last night at the Lions Club Building.
The board passed the tax levy for the fiscal year running from May 1st, 2020 to April 30th, 2021.
Two TIF requests were approved. Joseph and Rachel Gray were awarded $27,227 for roof repair, masonry work and heating and air work to the building at 107 South Division Street for their coffee shop. And Roger Seacrist will receive $21,850 for roof repair to the Barnes Building.
Stella Oxford addressed the board concerning $318.24 in unpaid utility bills by the former renter at her building located at 400 Division Street, next to the village hall. Oxford said she doesn’t have the total amount now, but would be willing to work with the village to pay it off. An agreement will be written up later this week to arrange for monthly payments on the bill.
The board approved a $1,000 donation to the annual contribution by churches in the area of food to needy families for the holidays and approved a donation of $500 to the Cops and Kids Program.
Country Companies is looking into replacing the carpeting in the back room of the office.
A new snow plow was ordered at a cost of $7,140.
The “Welcome” sign for the north end of town will be put up shortly for $500.
Work on the Wakeford House roof should be done by the end of the year.
The board decided to rescind advertising for bids for the 2002 F250 Super Duty V8 Truck, as it needs to be used currently.
Village Board meeting dates were approved. They will still be held on the first Monday of each month at 7PM at the Board room of the City Hall at 406 South Division Street unless otherwise noted, except for the meetings in July and September, which will be held on the first Tuesday.
In the police report for November, there were five reports written, zero arrests or citations and nine 9-1-1 calls.
Mayor Roy Kissell reminded everyone of the water rate increase that goes into effect on January 1st, 2021. It’s an increase of one dollar per 1,000 gallons. Residents will see it on their February bill.
A 35 minute executive session was held to discuss consideration of pay raises and bonuses. It was decided all full-time employees will receive a one dollar an hour raise. Weekend plant employees will see an increase of $25 to $100 a day, the Treasurer will receive an increase of $30 to $450, the cleaning lady a $50 increase to $300 and water testing employees an increase of $100 to $600. Christmas bonuses will remain the same as last year, adding $50 to each employee one time only, in lieu of a Christmas dinner.
The board adjourned at 9:00 PM. The next meeting will be Monday, January 4th at 7 PM.
