Norris City Man Arrested For Criminal Damage And Intimidation

A Norris City man is in custody after a complaint was signed against him in regards to criminal damage to property. On Friday March 24th, Officer Kody Jones of the Norris City Police Department was dispatched to 109 W 3rd where he spoke with Stephen Aud  who stated that  Jason Cannon of Norris City had told an individual he was going to bust in doors and windows of Aud’s residence. Aud said he arrived home from work and notice that the door on his garage as well as the front door of his residence had been kicked in. Officer Jones noted that he found a baseball bat next to the garage door as well as 2 bottles of Bud Light on the ground.

Jones then spoke with Heather Owen of Enfield who stated that Cannon had sent her multiple text messages threatening to cause damage to Aud’s residence. Owen said she was also concerned for the safety of her children  as well as her own after Cannon messaged her and said if she called the cops he was going to “kill her kids.”

On March 25th Officer Jones made contact with Cannon and asked him if he had been at Aud’s residence the morning of the 24th in which Cannon said he had not. Jones asked Cannon if he had a baseball bat in which he replied he had dropped it on Aud’s property, so he must have been there. When asked if he made threats to Owen in regards to her children or causing damage to Aud’s residence he said he did not send any of those messages. When Jones told Cannon he was being placed under arrest he became combative. As Cannon was arguing with the Officer he pulled out a marijuana pipe and a bottle of Fireball from his pocket and began drinking from the bottle. After being order by Jones to put the alcohol away, Cannon began denying everything that he had said in the interview and refused to put his hands behind his back for the Officer. Jones was finally able to get Cannon in cuffs and transported him to the White County Jail. He is being charged with Criminal Damage to Property, Criminal Trespass to Property, Intimidation and Resisting Arrest.

Cannon was scheduled to appear in court this morning. Court records have not yet been updated.
