New Mortgage and Student Loan Deadlines

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, in order to ensure that Illinois consumers are aware of COVID-19 relief options available, released an educational one pager for consumers to learn about federal relief options when it comes to evictions, mortgages and student loans.

IDFPR Secretary Deborah Hagan says federal deadlines are fast approaching and it is imperative that consumers take action quickly.

Mortgage Deadlines are as follows: FHFA forbearance must be requested by Jan. 31; HUD loan forbearance has been extended to Feb. 28; FHFA foreclosure moratorium ends Jan. 31; VA foreclosure moratorium ends Feb. 28; • HUD foreclosure moratorium ends Feb. 28.

Student Loan Deadline Relief has been extended until Jan. 31.  This includes interest being waived on all loans, collections on defaulted loans being halted and loan payments are suspended.
