Amy Wilson’s appointment as the Deputy Assessor for Carmi Township, a significant decision made at the monthly meeting, was announced.
“We added a line item that added $3,000 for that position. We did check with Springfield on that and approved.”
Wilson will only be working part-time, with her job requirement to help Assessor Amy Edwards inspect aerial work for only the region of Carmi Township.
“Looking through the aerials when they get uploaded. That was always done for me before, so now she’s going to help try to locate things that need to be added.”
The Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Town and Road Budget was approved. The final budget for the Road and Bridges was $672,000, with the Town budget ending at $530,778.
In the Supervisor’s Report, Deig explained the reasoning for a 64% increase in the General Assistance fund.
“The thing about GA is you just don’t know what your expenses could be. It varies. And I would rather run the budget a little high, because that is one of the funds that we can also, we can transfer any time. Because if GA needs it, we can transfer account funds.”
The total expenses for May ended at $169,166.27, with $108,280 being the purchase of a backhoe.
The next Township board meeting will be on July 9th at 6 PM.
