NCOE Board approves tax levy

The Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Board of Education met Wednesday night and approved the 2015 tax levy payable in 2016, as presented by Superintendent Matt Vollman.  A public hearing was held prior to the meeting with no input.

 

Amounts levied were $940,000 for education; $200,000 for operations, building and maintenance purposes; $102,500 for transportation services; $20,000 for working cash; $150,000 for Municipal Retirement purposes; $120,000 for Tort Immunity; $20,500 for Special Education; $80,000 for Social Security; and $20,000 for fire prevention and safety purposes.

 

The Board also passed a resolution to use a portion of the 1% tax money to pay the building bonds for next year.

 

The Board approved the insurance package for property, liability, workman’s compensation from Combined Services, Inc. at a savings of 34.4 percent over the previous year.

 

New teachers to the district were introduced to the Board.  High School Language Arts teacher Kayci Large, Kirsti Auten, High School business teacher and Lyndal Kosmatka, Special Education teacher at Booth and NCO were at the meeting.

 

In other business the Board–

–Approved use of Booth Elementary for the FFA Alumni dinner and auction on January 23, 2016.

–Accepted the retirement letter from Sharon Biggerstaff, effective at the end of the school year.

–Held the second reading of Board policies.

–Held a discussion on the possible leasing of new busses.  No action was taken.
