Carmi Police executed a search warrant Wednesday morning in a theft case and ended up taking two White County residents in on drug charges.
25 year old Robert Belka of Carmi and 24 year old Taylor Whitley of Crossville were taken into custody just after 8am after officers searched Belka’s residence on Neeley Circle. Inside, police found several baggies that contained a white powder residue. A field test determined that the powder was methamphetamine. Also seized were cannabis pipes, meth pipes, and extension cords Belka is accused of using to steal electricity from a neighbor.
Both Whitley and Belka were charged with possession of meth, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. During booking at the White County Jail, a cannabis pipe was also discovered in a purse owned by Whitley. Belka was additionally charged with theft under $500. Both are being held at the Jail pending a court hearing.
23 year old Kyle Buchanan of Carmi was taken into custody Wednesday night after Carmi police received a report a man beating on doors and entering an apartment on Renshaw Avenue. Officers arrived on the scene and identified Buchanan, who was then taken to the White County Jail. Buchanan has been charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. He is being held in lieu of a $150 bond.
