MCPD announces arrests in September home invasion case

GRIESEMER, CHRISTIAN BERTIS HARDIMAN

Two suspects in the home invasion that occurred in Mt. Carmel in September have been arrested according to a press release Thursday afternoon from the Mt. Carmel Police Department.

Authorities say that 24 year old Bertis P Hardiman of Princeton, Indiana and 20 year old Christian S Griesemer of Gibson County, Indiana are both behind bars.  Hardiman was taken into custody by the Princeton Police Department on October 23 and is currently being held in the Wabash County Jail on a $1 million dollar bond.  Griesemer was arrested today by the Santa Rosa, Florida Sheriff’s Department and is awaiting extradition to Illinois at the Santa Rosa County Jail.  Griesemer’s bond amount will also be set at $1 million dollars.

Police allege that on September 21st, Hardiman and Griesemer stole three cell phones from four individuals at gunpoint at a residence located at 713 N Mulberry Street.  During the crime, one of the victims was injured and was treated by EMS.  It is believed that the two suspects were looking for another individual who was known to sometimes stay at the residence.

The Mt. Carmel Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Princeton Police Department, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.
