The White County Sheriff’s Department took a report Saturday afternoon around 1:17 p.m. from Carmi Township Road Commissioner Chris McEwing regarding the theft of a road closed sign and barricade. McEwing told officers he tree cutting crews working on County Road 1000E just north of County Road 1600N in Carmi and had several signs and barricades out to protect the workers. Sometime between 2 and 5 p.m. someone stole a sign and barricade. The crew did not see the suspect vehicle, but McEwing wanted to report the theft as the sign and barricade belong to the Carmi Township.
