The Carmi-White County Bulldog football team defeated Flora back on Friday night by a final score of 36-20 to kick off the 2024 high school football season. 

The Bulldogs jumped out to an 8-0 lead after an 8-minute drive was capped off with a 6-yard touchdown run by Noah Pollard. Carmi led 8-6 at halftime. 

Flora was able to take the lead on their first drive of the 2nd half, leading it 14-8, but that would be the final time they held the lead. 

Pollard and Kade Stockton scored two touchdowns each in the 2nd half, and the Bulldog defense would make the plays to secure a 36-20 win. Pollard finished the night with 252 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. 

The Bulldogs improve to 1-0 on the season, they will travel to Hamilton County this Friday. 

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog volleyball team went 5-0 and brought home the championship on Saturday at the Fairfield Lady Mule kick off tournament. 

Carmi began the day taking down Woodlawn and Oblong before beating Carbondale to punch their ticket into the gold bracket. After a thrilling 3-set victory over NCOE, their first win over the Fighting Cardinals since 1996, the Lady Dogs defeated North Posey in the championship match 12-25, 25-18, 25-21.
Ashlyn Rager and Lauren Burzynski were named to the All-Tournament team, and Caroline Simmons was named Tournament MVP. 

The Lady Bulldogs are now 7-0 on the season. They will be back in action on Thursday when they host Gallatin County. 

The Carmi-White County Jr. High Softball team finished in 1st Place at the Johnston City Tournament on Saturday, defeating Marion 7-6, and Johnston City 16-1.

The Lady Bullpups will travel to Crab Orchard on Tuesday. 

The Carmi-White County Jr. Pro football teams swept Edwards County back on Saturday. 

The 5th & 6th Grade Bulldogs won by a final of 36-8, and the 7th & 8th Grade won by a final of 42-40.

Both teams will host Hamilton County this Saturday.
