The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog Volleyball team lost a 3-set heartbreaker last night to the Fairfield Lady Mules 24-26, 25-19 and 23-25.
In the 3rd set, Fairfield took a 21-17 lead before CWC coach Chris Lucas called his final timeout. The Lady Bulldogs then ripped off 5-straight to take a 22-21 lead. The Lady Mules then went on a run of their own to jump back ahead 24-22. Carmi answered to make it 24-23, but Fairfield was able to finish it and escape with a nail biting 3-set victory.
Carmi falls to 16-2 on the season, as Fairfield now moves into 1st Place in the Black Diamond Conference.
The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow when they host Flora.
The Carmi-White County girls tennis team traveled to Herrin yesterday afternoon, the Lady Bulldogs were able to win enough matches to get the win before lightning and rain cut the match short. Carmi won 5-1. They’ve now won 4 matches in a row. They will travel to Charleston today.
