Local Sports Recap – September 19, 2022

Back on Friday the Carmi-White County football team defeated Christopher-Zeigler Royalton by a score of 53-16. Isaac King rushed for 187 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 7 carries. Draxtyn Aud carried it 6 times for 49 yards and 2 touchdowns. Andrew Dodgson had 2 carries for 18 yards and a touchdown. Warren Legg threw a 31 yard touchdown pass to Cade Allen. The Bulldogs are 4-0 for the first time since 2016. They will host the 3-1 Fairfield Mules this Friday for Homecoming. The Bulldogs are looking to beat the Mules for the first time since 2012. 

The Carmi White County golf teams took part in the Salem Invitational on Saturday, which was set up as a skins tournament, different from normal golf matches. The boys team went up against Mt. Vernon, Centralia and the host Salem. The Bulldogs finished with just 7.5 points on the afternoon, placing them in 4th. The girls went up against Salem, Mater Dei and Breese Central. The Lady Bulldogs also placed 4th, finishing with just 8 points. Both golf teams will host Harrisburg at the Carmi Country Club this afternoon. 

The Carmi Jr Pro football teams swept Flora back on Saturday. The 5th and 6th grade Bulldogs won by a final of 8-6, they improve their overall record to 2-3. The 7th and 8th grade team won 18-12. That pushed them back over the .500 mark with a record of 3-2. Both teams will play their final regular game at Hamilton County this Saturday. 

The CWC Volleyball team will host Christopher tonight at McDougal Ever Gymnasium. The Lady Bulldogs are 9-5 on the year.
