Local Sports Recap – October 4, 2022

Back on Friday the Carmi-White County Bulldog football team defeated Edwards County 43-14. Senior Isaac King surpassed 1,000 rushing yards in the win. The Bulldogs improved their record to 6-0 on the year, as they also clinched a playoff spot. CWC will host Eldorado this Friday Night.

The CWC Jr Pro football teams played their final games of the year on Saturday. The 5th and 6th grade Bulldogs defeated Hamilton County 24-16 to take 5th place in the Black Diamond Conference. They finish the season with a 3-4 record. The 7th and 8th grade Bulldogs lost to Anna-Jonesboro in the 3rd place game. They also finish the year 3-4. Congratulations to the Jr Pro Bulldogs on a great season.

Carmi-White County sophomore Ava Shiever traveled to Salem yesterday for the IHSA 1A Golf Sectional. Shiever finished with a 99, right in the middle of the large field of 80+ golfers. Her incredible season comes to an end. Mt. Carmel’s Madi Young won the sectional with a 74, while the Golden Aces as a team won the sectional by 30 strokes. Finishing with a 301. Congratulations to Ava Shiever on a great sophomore season. 

The Carmi-White County Girls Tennis team hosted Benton yesterday for their final home match of the season. The Lady Bulldogs fell 7-2. Gracin Rice and Sophia Smith won their #3 doubles match, Rice also won her #6 singles match.

And the CWC JV Football team defeated Edwards County last night, 30-6.

Tonight the CWC Volleyball team will host Hamilton County.
