Best of luck to Carmi-White County senior Johanna Smith as she will play in IHSA 1A tennis state finals today and tomorrow in Chicago. Smith finished in 3rd place in last week’s Carbondale sectional to punch her ticket to the state finals.
Tomorrow night the Carmi-White County Bulldog football team will host Johnston City for the final regular season game of the 2023 season. Both teams come into tomorrow’s game with 7-1 records. Both teams would need a win and a Sesser-Valier loss against Flora in order to win a share of the conference championship. The Bulldogs have already clinched a playoff berth, they will learn who their 1st round opponent is on Saturday night when the IHSA reveals the playoff field. If Carmi wins tomorrow night against JC, they could potentially be seeded in the Top 5 in the southern 2A bracket, but a loss could put them anywhere from 7 to 11.
