The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog Volleyball team defeated Fairfield last night in two sets 25-10, 25-18 to clinch an undefeated Black Diamond Conference Championship. It is the first time since 2015 that the Lady Bulldogs are BDC champs, and it’s the first time since CWC joined the BDC in 2003 that the Lady Bulldogs went undefeated in conference play.
In the win, CWC junior Caroline Simmons collected her 1,000th career kill. She is the only player in CWCHS history to reach 1,000 career kills.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 27-1 on the season. Carmi will take part in the Edwards County Tournament tomorrow. They will begin pool play at 9 AM when they battle Charleston, they will then play Newton at 11 AM.
The Carmi-White County Cross Country team traveled to McLeansboro yesterday for the Black Diamond Conference Meet.
Andrew Benham finished in 2nd Place in the Boys Varsity Run with a new PR time of 16:00, earning him an All-Conference nod.
Luke Bolerjack finished in 11th Place, and Syler Lynn finished in 27th Place both also finishing with new PRs.
In the Girls Varsity Run, Ally Pollard finished 11th and Gabbie Conover finished 12th.
Both ladies also ran new PRs yesterday.
The CWC Cross Country team will head to Gallatin County on Monday.
The CWC Freshman Football team traveled to Harrisburg last night, and the Bulldogs fell by a final score of 41-14.
Best of luck to CWC Senior Aidan Willis as he begins play in the opening round of the IHSA Golf State Finals. Willis will tee off at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington today at 10:18 AM.
Best of luck also to the CWC Girls Tennis team as they head to Centralia today for the IHSA Sectionals.
The Carmi-White County Football team will host Eldorado tonight at the friendly confines of Harrington-Jeffries Sports Complex for Senior Night.
The Bulldogs enter with a 6-1 record, meanwhile Eldorado is 3-4 as they are fighting for their playoff lives.
