Local Sports Recap – October 18, 2023

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog Volleyball team defeated Grayville in two sets last night, 25-14 & 25-8 in their final home game of the season. Prior to the game, the Lady Bulldogs honored their lone senior, Mara Serafini. In the win, junior Lauren Burzynski surpassed the 1,000 career assists mark. The Lady Bulldogs are now 24-6 on the year, that 24th win ties them with the 2019 squad for the most wins in a single season in school history. They will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they take part in the Fairfield tournament. Carmi will begin regionals next Tuesday at the Lawrenceville regional. They will play the winner of Monday’s game between Toledo and Lawrenceville.

The Carmi-White County Bulldog football team will host Johnston City this Friday to wrap up the IHSA football regular season. The Bulldogs have already clinched a playoff berth, they will find out who their playoff opponent is on Saturday night. Both Carmi and Johnston City come into Friday’s game with a 7-1 record, both teams’ only losses have been 2 point defeats byway of Sesser-Valier.
