Back on Friday the Carmi-White County Bulldog football team traveled to Johnston City to face the Indians in a battle of unbeatens for the Black Diamond Conference championship. The Bulldogs fell behind 7-0 after just 3 minutes. But after two touchdown runs by Draxtyn Aud, a fumble recovery and an Isaac King touchdown run, the Bulldogs found themselves ahead 22-7 halfway through the 2nd quarter. The Indians managed to score 2 touchdowns on just 2 offensive snaps, tying the game at 22, but King would run one in from 65 yards out to give Carmi a 28-22 halftime lead. The Indians would outscore the Bulldogs 15-0 in the 2nd half, coming away with a 37-28 victory. The win gives Johnston City their 3rd straight Black Diamond Conference championships. The Bulldogs are still in a great position for the playoffs with a 7-1 record. They will host 4-4 Flora this Friday Night for Senior Night and White Out Night.
The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog Volleyball team went 2-3 on Saturday at the Edwards County Tournament, defeating Charleston and Wayne City, and losing to Mt. Carmel, Oblong and Olney. The Lady Bulldogs are 16-11 on the season. They will host Harrisburg at home tonight, they will travel to Grayville tomorrow night, and they will take part in the Fairfield tournament this Saturday to wrap up the regular season.
Coming up on Friday, October 28th at Carmi-White County High School is the 14 NEWS Sunrise School Spirit Pep Session. The event will be from 6 A.M. to 7 A.M. that morning, there will also be a canned food drive throughout this week and next week. Anyone wanting to donate can bring items to any CWC Unit 5 district school.
