WROY/WRUL Local Sports Recap
Back on Saturday the Carmi-White County Bulldog football team fell to Warrensburg-Latham in the 1st Round of the IHSA 2A Football Playoffs by a final score of 35-30.
The Bulldogs trailed 21-12 at halftime, but they were able to come back and take a 22-21 lead midway through the 3rd quarter. Both teams went back and forth, and Carmi led 30-29 with just under 2 minutes to play, but a late touchdown for the Cardinals gave them the lead and they held on to win, ending the Bulldogs’ season.
Carmi finishes the year with a 7-3 record, and the careers of their six seniors; Noah Pollard, Cade Allen, Kade Stockton, Kale Wiggins, Stone McGhee, and Eli Bryant come to an end.
Saturday’s game was also the final game for head coach Kurt Simon. Simon came to Carmi in 1997, and in his 28 seasons led the Bulldogs to 166 wins, 19 playoff appearances, 3 Black Diamond Conference Championships, and 3 undefeated seasons.
Congratulations to coach Simon and the 6 seniors on great careers, and congratulations to the Bulldogs on a great 2024 season.
