The Carmi-White County girls basketball team defeated Lawrenceville last night 59-41 to begin the 2023 season. The Lady Bulldogs are off to a 1-0 start as they will begin play in the Harrisburg Preview Tournament on Monday as they take on Eldorado. Carmi will then play West Frankfort on Tuesday, Harrisburg on Wednesday and Anna-Jonesboro on Saturday. The Lady Dogs will play their first home game on November 28th against Hamilton County.
The Carmi-White County Boys Basketball team will begin their season on Tuesday as they travel to Gallatin County to face the Hawks. Carmi has not lost to Gallatin County since 2018.
The CWC Wrestling team will also begin their season next week, they will travel to Carterville on Monday.
There are still a few area high school football teams in action this weekend in both Illinois and Indiana.
Tonight, Gibson Southern will travel to Heritage Hills in the Indiana 3A Southern Semi-State Championship.
Tomorrow, North Posey will host Southmont in the Indiana 2A Southern Semi-State.
Mt. Carmel will travel to Roxana for the IHSA 3A Southern Semifinal and Murphysboro will host Rochester tomorrow in the IHSA 4A Southern Semifinal.
